In the Philippines, you don't need to be a Math Wizard to learn the four fundamental operations. You just have to read the papers or watch the television to learn it. If you notice, the issues are all concerned with numbers and if you look closer you realize that our politicians, agencies, the people fight over things that has something to do with the four fundamental operations. Clueless to what I'm tryna say? Read below:
Addition/Subtraction:
1. An old issue that Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is not a legitimate President. Her detractors has been accusing her (til now and it's making me sick!) that she cheated in the 2004 Polls. Apparently, they believe that there was a huge manipulation during the election. Votes from other candidates were ADDED to her, sealing her win! (Dagdag-Bawas in English "Addition/Subtraction. lol).
2. The price of rice (in an agricultural country?) keeps soaring. Almost every week or day, the price is piling up...keeps ADDING!
3. Whatever happened to the NBN deal? People have lost interest in the issue? The issue seemed to have vanished into thin air? Does that mean the government is one less (that's subtraction) issue to face?
4. With all these high prices of commodities, whatever happened to the salaries of the Filipinos? Well, yeah I guess they ADD a little amount to employees pay...an amount that can barely cover
their transportation! Come on!
5. ADDitional rice imports, making us the largest importer of rice. (How come? We used to be one of the largest producers of rice, arent we?)
6. More Filipinos leave the country to seek a greener pasture abroad. Not bad, that would mean an ADDitional OFW remittance for the country.
7. Lastly, as 2010 poll nears did you notice that you see politicians on tv or hear them on radio lately? More public appearances would mean greater chances of securing a seat in politics! ( I notice former Sen. Oreta suddenly surfaced with the President).
Multiplication:
1. What else multiplies in the Philippines? The number of politicians/government officials who are greedy! I always have this feeling that it wont matter if you're pro-administration or against the administration. They really dont care about us.They care about their political ambitions. But count how many times they have used the line "Para sa masang Pilipino!" Are you kidding me?
2. I can't help but react (violently) when one of the reasons mentioned on the scarcity in rice supply is population explosion. Yeah I am aware that the population of the Philippines has MULTIPLIED over the past years but to attribute the rice shortage with our growing population is lame! Whatever happened to the agency keeping track our population growth? Aren't they suppose to inform the government about this so that they could have predicted that rice supply will be an issue this year?
3. What must me be done to stop the multiplication of all these controversies involving government officials? Like math, if you want to eliminate a term or the whole expression, multiply zero! That's what we need now eliminate this corrupt people. As to how? I have something in mind but it is not acceptable in a Christian/Catholic country so I think i'll keep to myself. Anyone who has an idea?
DIVISION:
1. In politics this is the most loved mathematical operation. The Senate and Congress have always been divided. Im glad (and surprised) that they united with the long-delayed Cheaper Medicines Act.
2. The people has always been divided as to who's side they should be. I have seen huge demostrations in the past. Funny that there were times that demonstration is becoming a show of numbers.
3. This is one division that I don't really like: When corrupt people DIVIDES among themselves their kickbacks! Shame on you.
So, if you wanna learn Math you don't need Einstein or your math teacher anymore. As for me, this is the Math that I would not want my children to learn.

regarding with the issues about the rice crisis, I encourage the improvement of local production with genuine government support at all levels of production with the end in view of restoring to agriculture and to our rice producers and farmers the assistance that they deserve to achieve genuine food security and self-sufficiency,..
You're right...we need to help the farmers to sustain our needs. It's so saddening that we have to import rice...
